November 10, 2007

Neil Fryer was simply unbelievable Friday night in the second game of the 2007 Aramark Quinn Classic. Fryer, known mostly for his jumping ability, shot an amazing ten of 11 in Eastern Oregon University’s 89-57 win over Montana Tech.

Fryer led all scorers with 26 points, including six of seven behind-the arc. EOU started right where they left off last season with five double-digit scorers. Hermiston’s Mark Carollo had 11 points; while brother, Paul, had six points had four rebounds.

Kyle Janke came off the bench to score 11 points and grab seven rebounds. Josh Landsverk and Jeremy Templeton each had ten points. Templeton had a game-high seven assists.

The Ore Diggers were led by Dusan Veselinovic, who had 19 points and Dirk Anderson’s 15 points.

EOU outscored Montana Tech 48-24 in the paint, 27-8 points off turnovers, and 16-4 in 2nd chance points. Eastern got out to a 23-9 lead, and never looked back.

The Mountaineers shot 50 percent from the field and 40 percent behind the perimeter. EOU improves to 4-0 on the season and is currently ranked 18th in the NAIA. Montana Tech falls to 1-4.

Eastern faces Montana Western this evening at 8 PM in the final game of the classic. Western lost a back-and-forth game one to the College of Idaho in the classic opener, 66-57. The Bulldogs and Coyotes changed leads 15 times and were tied nine times in the game.
