NHL is back! Yeah, I’m just messing around, sorry hockey fans. The real top news, the World Series is here.
After only 170 games, per team, Major League Baseball’s fall classic (which is getting closer and closer to winter classic) begins this week. For those who are like me, and just couldn’t have the commitment for that long season, the Colorado Rockies will be playing the Boston Red Sox.
The Rockies, out of the National League, are the hotter team, but the American League’s Red Sox may have the better bench. Boston sells more jerseys simply because they have more name-brand players. My early prediction, I love the underdog, Colorado in six.
Speaking of hot teams, who is hotter than the New England Patriots? I have always been a Miami Dolphins fan, so I have been taught to hate the Pat’s, but what they did last weekend in Miami was pretty impressive. If Tom Brady does not win the MVP this year, than Chuck Norris will be president in 2008 (for those who haven’t heard, Norris is considering running… seriously).
How about my Oregon Ducks? I say it possessive because I have been a fan through everything; believe it or not I was the only one with an Oregon jersey at my high school in Florida! The U of O lost their back-up tailback Jeremiah Johnson for the season in their homecoming win over Washington State; people began doubting their top ten ranking.
What did Oregon do next? They had a school-record 467 rushing yards at the University of Washington, in their 55-31 triumph. The ducks are third in the nation in rushing yards per game, and second in points per game. Oregon faces two huge tests the next two weeks, luckily both in Eugene, number seven USC this Saturday and number four Arizona State the following Saturday. Here are some more fearless predictions, Oregon 43, Southern Cal 27; and Oregon 48, Arizona State 21.
